So far so good! The rifle did require some cleaning, but the cosmoline was minor. I was hoping that i might receive a VG but i received a G instead. Stock has a few nicks and dings, but nothing major. No cleaning rod. The barrel has some minor rust and pitting toward the muzzle. The bolt is slightly stiff but it seems to be relaxing the more i work it. The action is fairly smooth -smoother than i expected considering how rough some M48 actions can be. The bore is looks bright and shiny - perhaps new. I've only fired commercial PPU loads through it and it shoots just fine. It may need a little windage adjustment but it's certainly accurate enough! Pick one up while you can!
Just a great rifle no problems with it. Just a sweet rifle to shoot all day. I recommended it to all my friends and family. I’ve been looking for a Mauser for a longtime glad to finally get one. Another great product from j&g.
Way better than expected! Stock is in great condition with few dents or imperfections, numbers are all matching, and the barrel has very strong rifling. A couple small scratches in the bluing and a light patina on the bolt handle are the only things that are holding it back from what I would consider to be an excellent grade rifle. Great buy and have already suggested that several friends grab one while they are still around.
My M48 was quickly shipped. The rifle was is graded as good condition. Blueing was 80-90%. Wood was dark and in very good condition. I stripped the rifle down completely and remover all the Cosmoline. Under the wood line was covered in Cosmoline but I am glad it was as all the metal on this one was in great shape. After a good cleanup it cycled very smooth. The bolt serial number is not matching so I picked up a field gage to check it and it will not come close to closing. My trigger was dropping at 9 lbs so I found a Timney Sportsman trigger on sale and installed it as well. The bore has well defined rifling and after running some JB Bore Bright thru it a few times it cleaned up very nice and the “Bullet Test” shows that the bore has not been worn. I floated the barrel so it should be ready to go. All in all I am very happy with this rifle. Now I need a nice day to take it to the range and see what kind of groups it will shoot.
