Smith & Wesson Model 3 1st model Russian revolver chambered in .44 Russian. This double action revolver built on a top break frame has an 8" barrel with a dark bore, a very good mechanical condition, and vintage walnut grips. There are matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and top latch. The revolver has a high polish blued metal finish, case colored hammer and trigger guard, and a straw colored trigger. Has a one line barrel address marked with the last patent date of Aug 24, 69 and "Russian Model". This commercial version revolver has a serial number of 278XX. Approximately 4665 of these revolvers were manufactured between 1871-1874. Overall in very good condition, used.
This revolver is a Pre 1899 manufacture which makes this gun an antique that may be purchased without a Federal Firearms License. Although the revolver appears to be functional it is sold for display/reference only as a gunsmith special, As Is, no returns.
