Enfield #4 MK 1 bolt action rifle in 303 Brit caliber. This is an previously unknown uncommon version of the MK I made by ROF Maltby (due to serial number range), but stamped MK I* and still retaining the Mk I features, not Mk I*. Per Ian Skennerton's authoritative book page 225, although all Mk I* rifles were made by Longbranch or Savage, "some dozen or so 1944 Maltby rifles have been noted stamped "No 4 MK I*..."
This unique rifle has serial number "BS 1896x, and has French resistance rack # PP1980 marked on receiver. Nice black finish which shows light service wear and some scratches mostly on front barrel band. Bore is in very good shiny condition. Wood stock is in very good condition with some dents, dings, and light scratches. Upper handguard is grooved. Has "SL N 74" and Crown over "N70" stamps at wrist, and "N 79" broadarrow on mid band, and at front, plus several other stamps and proofs in various spots. Buttplate is brass. Has the adjustable ladder rear sight stamped "MK II". Bolt release is MK I pattern behind the action (not forward as a MK I* would have). Bolt number does not match. Firing pin cocking piece is marked "N.87MK.II." Has reproduction blued steel 10rd magazine. Includes a WWII issue khaki web sling which has some stains. C&R eligible in overall Very Good condition. A rare find with these marks!
The importer of this rifle states that it was discovered stored in a weapons bunker in France after being dropped in, or distributed to the French resistance partisans. Some video footage of the French resistance with Enfield #4s can be seen HERE - a unique bit of WWII history!

Massachusetts - Handguns made after 1997 must be approved by MA DOJ. C&R handguns are sent to 01 FFL dealers only. No assault rifles.
New Jersey - C&R handguns are sent to 01 FFL dealers only, No assault rifles.
New York - C&R handguns are sent to 01 FFL dealers only. No assault rifles. No assault pistols, or pistol version of rifles.
Oregon - All firearms must be sent to 01 FFL dealers only, not 03 C&R holders, including C&R firearms.
Washington DC - no firearms.
