Original WW2 German 8mm (aka 7.92x57 or 8x57) 178gr AP FMJ ammo. This is German military surplus ammo from World War II, made in 1943 by HLB (Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen G.m.b.H., Werk Selterhof, Germany.) It is marked S.m.K (Spitzgeschoss mit Kern) which is "pointed bullet with core" indicating steel core armor piercing. It has the lacquered steel case, and a corrosive primer. Comes in 15rd boxes. (20 boxes come in a 300rd sleeve.) Good ammo in nice condition, however just due to age, some misfires may be encountered.

For being made during WWII, this ammo still fires and will go through steel plate. As the older powder is corrosive, ensure a cleaning of your barrel is done after shooting it.

First of all I would like to thank the folks at J&G sales for excellent shipping communication and early arrival of product. I had done my homework on this ammunition before I purchased so I pretty much knew what to expect in terms of performance. I can only speak of personal performance. For test purposes I use two 3/8 " steel plates welded together and placed them at approx. 100 yards . Using my M48 Mauser which I sporterized and used a Vortex scope I was able to punch through a thickness 3/4 " total about the size of a nickel coin. I believe the ammo is rated for .55" inches of steel at 300 meters. I did not go beyond the 100 yards as I was more than pleased at that point. I fired 5 shells from the first box and did not encounter any misfires or malfunctions with the lot I tested. What you may encounter should be similar but may vary. So the obvious question to ask is would you buy more of the same or recommend others to spend there hard earned cash. Yes indeed I would. As always , do your own homework before purchasing. Good luck and safe hunting. J&G has yet to let me down on any of my past purchases.

I was a little nervous by the way the ammunition was boxed for shipping but upon opening the box the actual WWII 300 round cardboard container was in excellent shape. I purchased the 300 round (complete with original unopened cardboard box) for my collection of German WWII ammunition and have no plans of ever opening it.
