Century Arms model UC9 Uzi pattern semi auto rifle chambered for 9mm. Fires from the closed bolt and features 2 position adjustable sights. Comes with one 32rd Magazine. CAI #RI1658-X

Based upon the combat-proven and well-respected Israeli sub-machine gun design developed by Uziel Gal in the 1950ís, the 9◊19mm Centurion UC-9 Carbine is a semi-automatic only, folding steel stock, straight blowback operation, closed bolt carbine. The charms of the basic design are numerous, namely offering a compact and handy pistol-caliber carbine in a rock-solid, reliable package. Feeding from an all steel, double-column magazine, the Centurion UC-9 Carbine offers a historical collectability and a lot of shooting fun. This firearm was assembled by CAI using both new US made parts and original used surplus parts.

A complete and total blast!!! I've only run 3 mags through it so far and perfect functioning. Obviously no recoil and seems fairly accurate. Very satisfied with purchase.

Immediately upon receiving my UC-9 from my FFL dealer I noticed the collapsible stock had difficulty remaining locked in the extended position. The first full day of being in possession of my UC-9 I put 200 rounds of Federal 115 grain FMJ brass through it. About every 5-8 rounds the recoil of the firearm was enough to make the stock collapse on itself. Also, the trigger is a bit stiff and I will look into polishing the components in the future. There were also 3 FTF and 2 FTE. I believe the 3 FTFs were attributed to a buildup of oil and carbon fouling that formed a thick paste on the unpolished feed ramp. After wiping the feed ramp with my finger I did not have any further FTFs. The FTEs were solved by oiling the extractor and both FTEs occurred within 20 rounds of each other. The second FTE was so severe I had to field strip the firearm and pry out the barrel with a flat head screwdriver in order to dislodge the spent brass case from the chamber. The extractor was completely seized up.
After getting the firearm home I cleaned and oiled it and I messed with the stock for a few hours. I thought I solved the issue so the following week I took my UC-9 back to the range and put 100 rounds of TulAmmo BrassMAXX 115 grain through it. This time I experienced 0 FTF and 0 FTE although the extractor is kind of weak and almost stovepipes the spent brass at times, perhaps it is just stiff and needs broken in. However, the problem with the stock persisted at the same frequency. On my way home from the range I called CAI and they told me to simply drop the firearm off at a local dealer of my choice and to have the dealer contact CAI and they would take care of it from there since the firearm was still under warranty, great customer service.
Now onto the positives, the fit and finish is much better than I anticipated for the price. I am very impressed with the overall look and feel of the UC-9. If you are split between the Centurion and a Vector save the extra cash and pick up a Centurion. Also, the rifle is surprisingly accurate. At my local indoor pistol range I was putting all 25 rounds (I live in a magazine-restricted state) within a quarter sized grouping at 20 yards rather quickly due to the very low recoil. The rifle is a blast to shoot (when it isnít trying to give me a black eye) and is surprisingly accurate; I just wish it performed better out of the box.
Iím giving the UC-9 3 stars because of the issue with the stock. In my opinion only an IMI Uzi is worthy of a 5 star review so the most I could see this clone receiving is 4 stars. Would I buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend one to a friend? Only if they could inspect it before purchasing for factory defects.
