Steel targets are a lot of fun and have taken over as the family favorite reactionary target for defensive caliber handguns. Nothing else quite beats that satisfying "Pwang..!!" We still shoot paper plates w/ orange stickers on them, occasionally, mostly to group for sight adjustment. Empty soda cans still catch lead from time to time, usually with .22 pistols - they are still the family favorite rimfire reactionary target. The metal spinner target sees a lot of action too, but usually just with the rimfire rifles. But empty milk jugs filled with water are still the all-time favorite long-range rifle reactionary target. Nothing else gives that magnificent display of a good hit with a fast bullet at 300 or 400 yards - at the low cost of a recycled plastic jug filled with water. They do work well for magnum handguns too, albeit much closer.

I use paper because I'm a lousy shot, and can see how off I am. Please, whatever you shoot at, pack out the trash you bring in, that's the reason so many shooting spots get closed.

I like to use all of these, depending on the situation. Also like to use Tannerite alot!

All of the above and more -- big fan of recycling everything as targets ..... give it a second chance to be useful..........

Uo to 30 feet I use post-it-notes. Aim small, miss small.

Paper. I've been competing in the precision disciplines (Black powder pistol and Olympic pistol) for 40 years, and it was hammered into me from the start that every shot is for record score.

Old office equipment when available. Yes I clean up the mess, except the @ key.
