In my experience, AK pistols just work - they flat-out run. AR pistols are problematic at best. Maybe some of them can be made to run for a time, but I expect reliability will drop off drastically with a little bit of carbon and/or dirt. The AK action just chews stuff up. The AK gas system is much more forgiving than the AR. No worries about buffer weights or gas-port sizes or running it "a little bit too dry," or even a sensitivity regarding projectile weight. Parts breakage isn't an issue either. I can't count how many articles I have read that help with how to run an AR pistol properly - including the issues I listed. Remember that little pig-tail gas tube for AR pistols..?!? What was up with that..?!?

AK pistols if I had to choose one but truth be told, they all suck. We alll know what you really want is an SBR. Ak amd AR pistols are for stamp shy lesser gun owners

I'm a simple man, AKs are so simple even I clean them as often as we should. Have to agree with Chad on reliability and parts. I look at an AR parts kit and ask myself "Why?". Simple for me please.

I'd go with the AR because of the modularity of the design. If at a later date I wanted to covert an AR pistol to an SBR it's much easier then doing it with an AK. Also I've been having a problem finding AK pistols in anything but 7.62x39. Where as AR pistols are pretty easy to find in whatever caliber you want.

Has anyone ever tried to develop an AK using an 223cal. rd. using a 109gr. HPBT for sniping. much using a 6MM case and the same 109gr. for sniping at 1000m? the AK wont do it at any development! I have both in the AR. You wont even hear the Bullet. much less your death when it enters your ear!!!
