Overall the rifle was in better condition than I was expecting from the website description. The stock was cracked and an attempt made to repair it with screws, more a cosmetic issue. It was mostly complete with only the rear sight slide missing as stated in the listing. My only disappointment was the rust on the barrel under the handguard, listing stated it had surface with and or pitting. Two spots went deeper than just pitting, one spot rust had eaten more than halfway through the thickness of thr barrel. Still I've had barrels that were drilled deeper than that to be tapped for sights or scope mounting and they were still safe. With a LOT of cleaning and an full inspection it fired and operated fine. I've worn out 5 bore brushes trying to clean it up. I soak the bore in solvent and scrub, soak and scrub. I've seen worse bores that still shot good but don't think I've ever send one as fouled and filthy as this one, still working on cleaning the bore so yet to be seen if it's a good shooter but is functional.

My rifle arrived with no cracks and complete with matching components. There were two major pitted areas underneath the hand guard. They don't seem to be deep enough to cause concern though. The exterior was filthy greasy and the mechanics were filled with grit. I was bummed because my crest was scrubbed but I am glad the rifle is in salvageable condition. Bore shows good rifling and is dark. Took me about a week with krud cutter and thinner to strip the wood and clean the metal. She cleaned up very nicely with a nice dark reddish stock with BLO and all mechanical components including safety work correctly. This IS A PROJECT. Do not expect to get something ready to shoot. Overall I'm happy with this fine rare Mauser.

The 1894 was exactly as described. It had a little more rust than I had hoped, but that is the luck of the draw. The rifle looks like it will be a fun project.

The rifles were just what I was expecting as as advertised. Both were really dirty and missing a couple minor parts. One was missing the rear sight slider and the front sight, the other had a broken firing pin and a broken bolt stop screw, all easily found for sale online. They both had a fair amount of pitting under the wood line, but nothing that would make them unsafe to shoot.

I received a nice condition rifle and for the price it's hard to beat. I definitely look forward to cleaning this up!
