The Century built GP1975 I recently purchased from J&G Sales functioned flawlessly with cheap ammo and surplus steel mags. I have not had a chance to try any other ammo or mags yet. The rifle was pretty much zeroed straight out of the box. The rifle I received also has a better fit and finish than other Century built AK's I've seen although it's not perfect. The release button on the recoil spring guide looks like it was machined in a cave - it's very uneven and crude, however it works just fine. There are a couple of small places on the barrel near the gas block where the finish is scraped off down to bare steel. However the rest of the metal parts have a nice dark grey parkerized finish. The front sight on the rifle I received was dead-on straight - not canted. The mag-well "dimples" are smaller than what I was expecting and what you normally see on a dimpled receiver AK - but they work. My surplus steel magazines had very little wobble, they are just loose enough to insert and remove easily. The rifle arrived with a very light coating of oil on the moving parts. I would recommend properly oiling and greasing the moving parts before shooting it. The barrel was bone dry and had a light surface rust. I can only assume the guys at Centry forgot to run an oiled patch down the bore to protect it before shipping the rifle. Fortunately, the bore cleaned up beautifully with a little Breakfree CLP. It would be nice if the GP1975 had the scope mount like a WASR and also the provision in the stock for a cleaning kit but it doesn't. All in all, I'm very happy with my GP1975 and I believe it's a good "bang for the buck" considering current market prices for AK's.
Nice fit and finish, needed a little polishing on some internals, will take all mags I have (steel and polymer). wish it had the traditional AK side scope mount. Changed the grip, added quad rail, changed muzzle brake. haven't shot it yet but seems super solid and a much better buy than a WASR under current market conditions. J&G fast shipping!
Rifle arrived safely, and in excellent working order. NO major blemishes or scratches, just like the picture on the website. With one x30 round metal magazine. I am very pleased with the overall experience from start to finish. Thank you J&G
